Colour advisor Sahra Lysell is the designer behind Ørgreen's original colour combinations. Her work in cooperation with the rest of the design team has succeeded in creating the groundbreaking look that has made this Danish Design company famous throughout the world.
Equipped with both an innate feel for colour and training as a designer, Sahra has been the creative force behind Ørgreen's unique colour combinations ever since the company was founded in 1997. Her sure touch in this area has turned the characteristic two-tone Ørgreen look into the firm's unmistakeable brand signature.
In addition, she has created Ørgreen's unique Electro range- a set of colours that shimmer in ambient light and changes with the amount of sunlight falling on the glasses by shifting, for example, from bonze to green. Ørgreen currently holds the patent on this colour technology and is the only company in the world that uses this technique.
She finds inspiration all around her, including – for example – in graffiti culture. “This is a world that awakens emotions in me, on account of it being an unpretentious art form with an over-the-top attitude to colour. There are no rules to obey, which inspires me to apply the same approach to my own world.” she says. Sahra also makes frequent trips to New York, Paris, Tokyo, London and Milan, where she finds inspiration in anything from street life and local markets to record sleeves, makeup and books.
Ørgreen's exclusive glasses are made by hand, with a colouring process that consists of more than 15 individual steps, carried out with well-practiced skill at the world's leading pigment factories in Japan.
Ørgreen has pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the optical world by taking colours to the next level.
